Socio-economic and Ecological Approaches
Vegetable oil crops such as oil palm, soybean, sunflower, and rapeseed, are essential commodities in the global agricultural sector, meeting the ever-increasing demand for edible oils and fats. Covid19 which has just passed has forced the world to start increasing its productivity as life activities return to normal. Although, in the amid efforts to increase productivity there was instability in Europe and Russia caused by the wars in Russia and Ukraine. Therefore, transformative changes and information related to vegetable oil farming are needed to support the productivity of vegetable oil agriculture and the stability of food security.
The production and use of vegetable oils to support food security cannot be avoided from issues related to Ecological Aspect, Socioeconomic Aspect and Economy Aspects. Vegetable oil is an important commodity in the food, pharmaceutical, and various other sectors. However, the production and consumption of vegetable oils cannot be separated from emerging ecological problems, such as climate change, land degradation and decreased biodiversity. Therefore, review how good agricultural practices (GAP) can play a role in maintaining ecological balance and contributing to environmental sustainability.
Apart from the ecological aspect, review the socioeconomic aspect of the vegetable oil industry is also important to discuss. The process of production, distribution and trading of vegetable oil can affect the lives of the surrounding community, especially farmers and workers in the agricultural sector, considering issues of farmer welfare, labor rights, and community empowerment in the context of vegetable oils.
Equally important also explore the economic aspects of the vegetable oil industry. Business opportunities, global trade challenges, and the role of vegetable oil in economic growth will be interesting to discuss. In addition, it is important to discuss how sustainable economic strategies can be implemented to increase economic benefits for all parties involved.
The seminar is expected to provide a holistic understanding of the importance of considering ecological, socioeconomic, and economic aspects in the production and use of vegetable oils. By bringing together diverse stakeholders, the international seminar will provide a platform for knowledge exchange, experience sharing, and collaborative problem-solving to expand and strengthen networks and cooperation at both the national and international levels between academics or government researchers, as well as in creating strong and sustainable vegetable oils, therefore an International conference on Vegetable Oil (VegOil2023) is held.
The objective of the International Conference aims to gather information about the importance of ecological, socioeconomic, and economic aspects in the production and use of vegetable oils.
